When it is unbearably cold at night - I mean the bone-chilling-wet-cold of the first truly frigid nights in the late fall, the ones that you weren’t ready for yet, and the early dark that starts to feel oppressive after the golden days of September - all I want from the world is candlelight, board games, hot meals, and cozy evenings with the ones closest to me. Cozy Inside juxtaposes the bright crisp mornings of a frosty late fall run up to the holidays with the retreat to the warm and bright settings of holiday decorations and celebrations with family that hold the early evening darkness at bay. The holidays are hard for many people - even the most balanced and close knit families can feel the strain of unmet and unspoken expectations on their gatherings. Cozy Inside is also a wistful call for the simplicity of being together in those moments in ease. A note of melancholy rings through Cozy Inside - almost like remembering a holiday then currently experiencing one. I attribute this to it being originally penned during the holiday season of 2020 - when nothing about gathering was simple.

I love the vintage feel of the vocal layering that reaches for an echo of traditional holiday music while staying true to my vocal style and desire to keep the song the focus and the production not overdone.
